Our History

MSP Group was founded in 2015 with the mission of being the most trusted name in South Florida commercial real estate. MSP Group’s founder and CEO, Deme Mekras, knew that in order to accomplish this mission, the company needed to provide best-in-class service, expert analysis, and robust access to the market. MSP Group’s clients, both private and institutional, benefit from a truly collaborative team environment and a platform free of conflicting corporate agendas and toxic work environments.

Prior to founding MSP Group, Deme held the post of Regional Managing Partner at Franklin Street, a real estate firm with offices throughout the southeast. In 2012, he led the opening of Franklin Street’s Miami office and was charged with establishing the company in the local multifamily market. Deme achieved this objective during his time there, posting more than $150,000,000 in closed deals, bringing brand recognition to the previously unknown firm in the South Florida multifamily arena.
Before being recruited as an equity partner by Franklin Street, Deme was a Vice President of Investments at one of the largest investment real estate firms in the world, Marcus & Millichap. It was at Marcus & Millichap that Deme learned “the ropes” of the investment brokerage game. He was a quick study, earning the Rookie of the Year award in 2003. During his time at Marcus & Millichap, Deme was promoted up the ranks and earned the coveted National Achievement Award multiple times for his production.
Deme’s introduction to sales was in the tech world, selling telecommunication services to small business throughout Miami. First, he was with Southeast Telephone company shortly after the de-regulation of telecom and thereafter was a sales associate at MCI Worldcom. It was in these roles that he learned that hard work and tenacity lead to results. As a freshman at the School of Hard Knocks, he spent his days pounding the phones, beating the pavement and literally knocking on doors.
